Good news for all you smokers and ex-smokers out there. If you’re worried about catching lung cancer from your vice of choice, there’s two things you can do to give yourself clean, healthy lungs. The first and most important step is to quit, if you haven’t already. The second weapon in the war against lung cancer is to drink green tea. Researchers at Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan have discovered that green tea reduced the risk of cancer in both smokers and nonsmokers alike, with nonsmoker lung cancer risk dropping a staggering 66 percent and smoker cancer risk dropping almost 13 percent!
The fact that tea is good for you is no real surprise. Tea has many uses, medicinal and non-medicinal. Still, to know it takes an active role in inhibiting the development of certain precancerous growths only adds to the legendary health effects of a hot cup of pleasant, relaxing tea. I’m going to have to add tea back to my daily drinking regimen.
