Some might call the subject of Kent Rogowski’s photography cute, but that’s before Kent has his way with them. Kent’s photography book, Bears, contains a whole lot of pictures of stuffed teddy bears. They’re a classic, even iconic, children’s plaything, so what better way to get some shock than to take a teddy bear and turn him inside out? The results can only be described as pink and fluffy nightmare fuel, as beanbag bellies become distended sacks of entrails, stitches become stars, and eyes become fried-egg nightmares.
While they’re not as overtly disgusting as , these Frankenbears are still pretty disturbing. They’re like Evil Muppets, or some sort of gross parody of what a teddy bear should be, yet they still manage to be kind of cute in an off-putting way. Like, if you didn’t do more than glance at them, these would be adorable, then you take a real look and find your stomach turning.
