Some people will take anything that isn’t nailed down. Even man’s best friend is not safe from the sticky-fingered, as Donna McPherson’s 10-year-old West Highland Terrier Lexie found out the hard way. While out for a walk, Lexie was bundled into her green wool doggy sweater by her owner, Donna McPherson. When Ms. McPherson stopped by the store to pick up some supplies, she left her dog tied up outside for, she says, only a few minutes. When she came back, Lexie had been robbed and her dog-sized coat had been stolen.
As silly as it seems, a dog coat isn’t a bad purchase. If you have a smaller dog, like a Westie, or just a general terrier mutt like my last dog was, then they need a lot of help keeping that smaller body warm during winter. My late grandmother actually bought my dog a woolly red sweater to wear when the temperature got too low. You’d think a dog would hate wearing a piece of clothing, but he never minded having it on.
He did mind the act of putting it on him, but that’s understandable. I’d hate it if somebody stuck my head into a turtleneck, too.
