Now, normally I’m not a big fan of protests as they never really seem to do much good but you have to give the folks at Common Sense in Government some major props for their creativity. To protest Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm’s plan to extend and raise sales taxes in an attempt to cover a $1.7 billion dollar budget deficit, Common Sense in Government turned to something in abundance in Michigan this year: snow. Specifically, they built three-dozen snowman protesters, complete with angry faces and protest signs decrying the taxation plan.
While they’re not exactly up to the creativity level of the snowpocalypse snowmen, it’s still a great idea. They could use a little fire breathing to add to their message, but you work with what you have available. I doubt it’ll stop Gov. Granholm from expanding sales taxes, but it does make for a cool visual.
