Shockingly, giving the power to see someone naked to a bunch of people with no real professionalism leads to the abuse of this nakedness power. Jo Margetson, a 29-year-old airport security screener at London’s Heathrow Airport, was walking through one of those new full-body nude scanners used to check folks for guns when her 25-year-old co-worker John Larker is accused of taking her picture with the gadget and making leering comments about her body.
Of course, while Jo is horrified by her experience, what of the hundreds (or thousands) of people she’s done the very same thing to during the course of her employment there? If she’s been on good behavior, then what about Larker’s actions? Where’s the outrage there? A warning for harassment isn’t enough; this guy needs to be fired. I understand the need to be safe, but these body scanners are just too invasive. You might as well hand out robes at the door and have customers strip down and limbo through airport security.
