Jordan Romero is a perfect spokesman for Let’s Move, an organization dedicated to fighting childhood obesity. Why is that? Aside from being slim and stylish in his climbing gear, he’s also one of the youngest, most accomplished mountain climbers in the world. His goal is to climb the highest peaks on every one of the seven continents on earth, and he’s already through five of them.
How remarkable is this kid? At age 10 he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. He’s conquered the peaks of Europe, South America, North America, and Australia in addition to Africa. He even added in Carstensz Pyramid, the highest peak in Oceania and the highest island peak in the world, just because he had some free time!
Jordan got the idea from his father, Paul Romero, who is a climber and extreme sports nut. So Paul trained his son, and Paul, Jordan, and Paul’s girlfriend Karen Lundgren are all ready to make the climb up Mount Everest, all in the name of charity. Jordan is raising awareness for charities, like the aforementioned Let’s Play and Team Duke, a cancer charity.
If all goes according to plan, Jordan will be the youngest person to scale all 7 peaks, besting the previous record by 4 years.
