Denise New says she was just doing the best she could by monitoring her son’s Facebook activity and leaving comments about some of his posts. Her son believes differently. The 16-year-old believes his mother’s contact on Facebook is harassment, and he’s taking her to court over her Facebook annoying. Not only is he suing for harassment and slander, he’s also seeking a no-contact order. As we all know, Facebook poking violates restraining orders, so don’t even think about it, lady!
New is accused of not only leaving harassing messages for her son on Facebook, but also hacking into his account, changing his password to lock him out, and writing posts herself. She probably messed with his FarmVille account, too! Now, she might have a right to police her son’s Facebook account if she was his mother, but she’s not. Technically, his grandmother is the party responsible for taking care of him, as the mother lost her custodial rights for unexplained reasons. She may as well be an annoying stranger.
