The fine folks who run the lines at the local 911 number are hard-working, stressed-out people whose job entails them saving lives and property for a living. They’re the ones who are responsible for getting first responders to respond, so they’re the most crucial element in the chain of life-saving. As such, they generally don’t need to be bothered by drunk people looking for rides home from the club. Now, they’re getting serious and hitting people who call 911 for a taxi with criminal charges.
Quandrial Bailey wanted a ride home from a club in New Haven, Connecticut, back to her home in Meriden. So, she called 911 to try and get a ride. Not just once, either. She called six times! Apparently, she didn’t get the message the first five times. Eventually, she did get that ride she wanted, except it wasn’t home, it was to jail. Bailey was released on $1000 bond and ordered to show up to court on May 5.
How many times does this have to happen before people get the message that 911 is not a taxi service?
