Chicago is a great town, but it’s also a very rough town. There are a lot of neighborhoods where people probably shouldn’t go if they want to avoid crime. However, the job of the Google Maps crew is to go into every neighborhood and get panoramic views of it from every angle for Google Maps purposes. That’s how you occasionally get some strange stuff, like the frogmen that chased the Google Street View car in Germany. However, some real-life excitement was caught on camera when an image of someone pointing a gun at someone else on Google Maps surfaced.
Is this possible Google Maps caught a view of a real crime in action? Possibly. I mean, the cameras have caught drug deals in action before, so anything’s possible. I don’t think that this is a legitimate shooting, though. The gun in question doesn’t look like a real gun (to me), but it could be one of those chrome-plated models or a smaller caliber/capacity weapon. You can’t put anything past people these days.
