The town of Kitchenuhmaykoosib, Ontario, Canada, is pretty unique. Mostly because its name is Kitchenuhmaykoosib. But also because it’s one of the many bilingual towns in Canada. Rather than speaking French and English, Kitchenuhmaykoosib is English and Ojb-Cree, an Indian dialect. Now they have a second claim to fame as a bizarre creature with a rat-like tail was pulled from the lake, drowned.
The creature, probably some kind of drowning-bloated opossum, was pulled from the lake by hikers and Sam the Dog, who apparently is well-known in Kitchenuhmaykoosib. The finding was so unusual it was featured on the town’s official website! The creature was described as having a foot long, rat-like tail. No other distinguishing features were mentioned.
I have to say, it looks like a possum to me; it also might be a beaver with some kind of skin condition. Or possibly some other normal animal just left weird-looking thanks to how it died or some kind of mange. There’ve been so many fake cryptid sightings lately that it takes the steam out of seeing a real cryptid, like the gnome in Argentina.
