I’m a big believer in Google Maps. When I have to go somewhere, the first thing I do is look up the directions online. However, unlike some people, I’m blessed with a little thing called common sense. Even if I don’t have the greatest sense of direction, I know better than to stand in the middle of the highway. Laura Rosenberg does not, which is why she’s suing Google after she got hit by a car.
Laura needed directions to get around Park City, Utah. Laura is from Los Angeles, so obviously she doesn’t quite know Utah like the back of her hand, so she hit Google Maps on her BlackBerry and got some walking directions. When told to turn onto Deer Valley Drive, AKA Utah State Route 224, she did so. There, she was promptly hit by a car while walking down the middle of the road.
Obviously, this is all Google’s fault, even though they say their directions are all in beta and not reliable. Still, it’s Google’s fault she’s dumb, so she’s suing Google for $100,000 in medical expenses and punitive damages. She’s also suing the man who hit her, Patrick Harwood.
Yeesh, talk about your dumb lawsuits! If you’re not smart enough to get out of the middle of the road, you deserve to be hit by a car. I hate to be that guy, but sometimes stupid has to be punished with pain.
