It’s the kind of thing I’ve often dreamed about. You’re driving along and all of a sudden a big bag of money falls out of that Brinks truck that’s been blocking traffic. Success! Instant riches! Well, what’s a common fantasy became a reality in Foggia, Italy, where motorists took $12,580 dollars (or about 10,000 euros) from an overturned truck carrying coins from the Italian mint to banks in southern Italy.
While that seems like a lot of money (and it is), police were able to arrive before the wreckage was picked clean. The truck was carrying 2.5 million euros at the time it overturned. Still, the quick-fingered passers-by managed to nick their fair share of the coins. Fortunately, the driver and passenger in the truck turned out to be okay, aside from a bit embarrassed and a bit lighter in the load after their wreck.
