Lord Edward Davenport has an awesomely posh name, and to support that posh name, you need a lavish lifestyle. Now while Edward has a peership, he’s got no real money, so he got creative and put his name to good use. The 44-year-old started a party planning company called Gatecrashers, which turned rented mansions like Portland Place into party central. While the idea was wildly popular with party-goers, it’s not so popular with local officials, who allege that the night that Portland Place’s pool was filled with 1000 liters of Courvoisier was a step too far!
There were also pole-dancing parties, masked balls, and of course the Courvoisier party where attendees were encouraged to hop in a boat and row across a pool of hooch. Hence, Westminster City Council has stepped in, dragging Lord Davenport before the courts to attempt to shut down his wild party business. Or at least invite plan their next birthday party. That’d probably put the unofficial squash on these party problems.
