It’s kind of like a scene out of National Lampoon’s European Vacation. A man and wife, identified only as Herbert K. and Erica, were driving around Bielefeld, Germany, when they stopped at a gas station. They’d been driving for awhile, for 300 kilometers (or 186 miles) without stopping on their way back to their home in Linz, Austria, so no doubt both parties needed a chance to stretch and relax a little. However, when Herbert left the filling station, he left his wife behind.
Some 40 kilometers down the road, apparently it hits 68-year-old Herbert what happened (he didn’t have a cell phone so she couldn’t call him for help). So he turns around and drives back to the gas station to pick up his 64-year-old wife. She was recovered without incident and, apparently, the rest of the journey went smoothly.
Still, you know he’ll never be allowed to live this incident down!
