Drew Carey Drops 80lbs. After Getting Sick Of Being Fat

Posted 7/30/2010 9:30 am by

Drew Carey is known for a few signature things.  He’s got those black horn-rimmed glasses.  He’s got a flat-top.  He makes Cleveland jokes.  And, oh yeah, he’s a bit on the pudgy side.  Well, he was a bit on the pudgy side, but thanks to a change in dieting habits and a serious exercise regiment, Drew Carey has lost a staggering 80 pounds!

“I like being skinny.  I was sick of being fat on the camera,” he told People.com.  “I just got sick of it.”  He did his weight loss the old fashioned way, too, with diet and lots and lots of exercise.  We’re talking 45 minutes of cardio a day and a complete change in how and what he eats.  “No carbs,” Carey said of his new restricted diet.  “I have cheated a couple times, but basically no carbs, not even a cracker.  No bread at all.  No pizza, nothing.  No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind.  Egg whites in the morning or like, Greek yogurt, cut some fruit.  I don’t drink anything but water.  No coffee, no tea, no soda.”

Carey’s inspiration?  Former host of The Price is Right Bob Barker, who at 86 looks as fit and trim as he did when he was breaking into the television business.  That and his family: “My fiancée has a 5-year-old, and wow, I’d love to see him graduate,” he added. “I’d love to be able play with him without getting tired, enjoy my life and watch him grow.”  Congratulations Drew, as a fellow fatty I know just how terrible it was, and how much work it is to lose that much weight.  Here’s hoping others follow suit, if only for their health.

British Barber Criticizes Kim Jong Un’s Bad Hair Day

Posted 4/16/2014 2:53 pm by

You’d think that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un would have a pretty full plate.  After all, he’s in charge of an entire country of people and if you look at his list of titles, he’s doing everything under the sun at a very high level.  He’s in charge of all the military, the defense, […]

Atlanta Braves Celebrate Home Opener By Burning The American Flag

Posted 4/09/2014 3:03 pm by

Historically, the Atlanta Braves have been a model franchise.  Aside from a lack of post-season success, the Braves have been a winning ball club, a good ambassador to the South for baseball, and have generally been a pretty classy organization, at least as far as sports teams with Native American mascots can be.  However, one […]

Starbucks Satanic Latte Art

Posted 4/02/2014 7:45 am by

There are a lot of dumb controversies surrounding Starbucks, from the decision to test alcohol sales to the store’s ubiquity in every place folks congregate around the world.  One Louisiana school teacher got a little more than she bargained for when she stopped by the Starbucks location at Baton Rouge’s Mall of Louisiana to get […]

Target Is Bad At Photoshop

Posted 3/12/2014 10:30 am by

When it comes to digitally editing photos, less is usually more.  Unless you’re trying to make deliberately weird pictures, the more you mess with a picture the worse it becomes.  That’s why Photoshop has become such a bane to the existence of teenagers ever.  Not only does it promote illogical standards of beauty, it also […]

There are a lot of ways to make traditional winter Olympic events more appealing.  You can tweak the rules to add a little more drama, you can try to turn your sport macho, you can have some spectacular, television-friendly crashes where no one really gets hurt, or you can show a little skin and go […]

Wellesley College’s Underwear-Clad Sleepwalker Statue

Posted 2/05/2014 7:00 pm by

There aren’t many men on campus at Wellesley College.  That’s probably because it’s an all-women school.  However, there’s one guy on campus these days, and he’s tromping around the grounds in nothing more than a pair of tighty whitey underwear with his eyes closed.  Wellesley College has a statue of a guy in his underwear […]

It’s one of the most famous landmarks in the known world.  If you see a shot of a giant statue of Jesus, odds are it’s an establishing shot of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  The 125-foot statue dubbed “Christ The Redeemer” sits atop the 2000-foot Corcovado Mountain, overseeing the sprawling Brazilian city.  There are many imitators, […]

Conjoined Twin Grey Whales Found In Mexico

Posted 1/09/2014 1:00 pm by

You don’t often see conjoined animals live successfully in the wild.  Conjoined twins have a lot of health concerns (and legal concerns), from birth on, and in the unforgiving natural world, any kind of deformity can end up being a real detriment.  You’ll see the occasional domesticated pig with two faces or the occasional calf […]

Tony Parker Apologizes For Anti-Semitic Gesture

Posted 12/30/2013 9:48 pm by

People make rude gestures on a daily basis, either as a form of protest or just as a general expression of being upset.  However, there’s a difference between making a rude gesture and making an offensive gesture, and San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker is learning the difference.  Three years ago, he made a gesture […]

There are a lot of bad behaviors that can be overlooked during a memorial service.  There’s a big difference between the occasional uninvited guest and someone who shows up to steal food.  However, when it’s a huge event like the memorial service of Nelson Mandela and you’re one of the hundreds of dignitaries showing up […]

The Doodle-Blot Test

Posted 11/08/2013 8:00 am by

These days, the inkblot test is more noteworthy for the name of a pop-culture comic book/movie character than its implications in psychology.  However, the Rorschach test is still an important test in the history of the psychological world (even if it’s not used much today), and Google is paying special attention to that with a […]

The New $100 Bill Is Here

Posted 10/08/2013 6:30 am by

If this seems like a blast from the past, that’s because it is.  The new-look $100 bill was supposed to be released in 2010, but problems with unwanted creasing delayed the bill.  In 2011, when the bill was supposed to be released, there were problems with the ink smearing.  The old saying is more money […]
