I’m no stranger to the occasional typo or misspelled word. It happens to everybody, I think. As much as I hate it, I’m human just like the rest of you. However, one thing you can say is that when I notice a spelling error, I’ll correct it as soon as I can. That’s because I’m dealing with typing, not paint. When you misspell the world school as shcool in paint in front of a school, it’s harder to correct.
That’s what happened to a contracted road crew in Guilford, North Carolina. A crew was hired out to paint the crossing in front of Southern Guilford High School, except apparently the crew contained no one who graduated high school. (Or maybe, given the spelling errors in spelling text books, they did.) As a result, you end up with “shcool.” But it’s okay, that’s not the final coat of paint, that’s just “interim paint,” as a spokesman for the painting company put it.
This is why you proofread copy before it goes live, people!
