If you’re looking to waste time, then you more than likely have a new destination these days. According to the researchers at comScore, Internet users logged a staggering 41.1 million minutes using Facebook, making Facebook more popular than both Google and Yahoo in total time spent browsing per month. Facebook accounted for 10 percent of the average web surfer’s time spent online last month! By comparison, Google managed to hold 39.8 million minutes spent online (spread across its various sites like Gmail, YouTube, etc.) and Yahoo fell to third, with 37.7 million minutes spent online (thought not browsing Yahoo Personals anymore).
Amazing, isn’t it? You add FarmVille to Facebook, and all of a sudden it goes from a pure socializing website and a stalker’s best friend and becomes the default destination for hundreds of millions of people looking for entertainment. Even though I’m not a Facebook fan, I can see how and why it’d be something that would take up a lot of time if you left it. It just does so many different things at once, depending on what you install, that it has nearly limitless options for time-wasting. Good thing I don’t have any time to waste these days.
