Justin Bieber is no stranger to pranks. After all, he’s shown to have a pretty good sense of humor about himself, and he’s obviously not one to pull any punches when it comes to getting revenge on hackers. Plus, he’s the hottest singing star on the planet right now, and his fans can’t get enough of him. That’s why MTV has reportedly tapped Justin Bieber to take over the hosting duties on a Punk’d revival.
For those that weren’t big MTV viewers between 2005-07, Punk’d is a hidden camera pranks show, like Candid Camera if Allen Funt was a big douchebag in a trucker hat. Rather than pranking normal people, Punk’d was different in that it was a show about playing pranks on celebrities. The original version was hosted by Ashton Kutcher; he’ll be executive producer on the new version via his company Katalyst Entertainment.
It’s funny; I thought the company was bringing back music videos. Instead, they’re just recycling their own programming. What’s next? A new version of Jackass?
