There’s one item of McDonald’s menu that is so rare and difficult to obtain that people drive hundreds of miles simply to buy one. It’s a peculiar mix of compressed pork and barbecue sauce, topped with onions and plopped on a bun known as the McRib. Well, the McRib is back at McDonald’s, and as James Brown once said, “It’s back, it’s nationwide!” That’s right, the McRib sandwich is being returned to McDonald’s restaurants throughout America for the first time since 1994.
I, for one, could not be happier. I haven’t had a McRib since probably the late 90’s, and I LOVE these sandwiches. I know it’s not a real rib, and that it’s just a pork patty shaped to look like a short rack of ribs, but they’re also the most delicious, saucy, forbidden thing on the McMenu. It’s like eating some rare Japanese McDonald’s hamburger combined with the allure of taking a bite out of a tiger. I cannot type enough words to express how happy this news has made me.
The McRib is pretty much the highlight of any meal, and I can’t wait to buy a couple of them to devour for dinner tonight.
