For four years, Victor Gradowski ate at his local White Castle restaurant in New York every Friday. Rain or shine, Gradowski was there, with a burger in his mouth. That’s the dedication needed to become not just a very good eater, but a hall of fame eater. The 27-year-old Gradowski will be one of 13 frequent eaters inducted into the White Castle Hall of Fame and its subsection, the Cravers Hall of Fame, in a ceremony in Columbis, Ohio, on November 16.
“I feel very, very honored, very excited,” said a thrilled Gradowski. “It’s almost like a dream come true. I will never be President; I will never be a football player; but I am a White Castle Hall of Famer.”
It’s strange to consider that, in some parts of the US, there aren’t any White Castles. For me, they’re a monthly requirement; at least once a month, I’ll get that craving and the only solution is to douse that fire with sliders and fries. That some places lack White Castle is a very sad state of affairs. Krystals will do in a pinch, but it’s just not the same.
