We’re at the epicenter of a renewed love of zombies as a centerpiece for movies and television that hasn’t been seen since George A. Romero invented the modern zombie movie genre with 1968’s Night of the Living Dead. That’s not so evident in movie theaters, but in pop culture in general. Zombies are everywhere from colleges to comic books and as such, AMC has a hit on their hands with The Walking Dead. After a record-breaking debut and a stellar second episode, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a second season.
Also picking up the show for a second season is Fox International Channels, the show’s European distributor. The show also scored record ratings throughout the EU, where it was the highest-rated original series premier to ever air simultaneously across FIC’s various channels. Without a doubt, AMC is pleased by this development.
“The Dead has spread!” said AMC President Charlie Collier. “No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as The Walking Dead. This reaffirms viewers’ hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back The Dead again, across the globe.”
