Tres Ammerman is a longtime alligator trapper. According to his wife, they’ve got three 13-foot-long gator mounts in their home. However, 13-foot-long gators are big but not unreasonably big. Ammerman’s latest capture is a record-breaker. Tres Ammerman captured a 14-foot 3.5-inch long alligator in a Florida lake; that’s the longest alligator ever captured in Florida!
Ammerman captured the gator while out on Lake Washington in Brevard County, Florida. He was out with his nephew and another hunter when they landed the gator that was so big, they couldn’t get it into their boat. They had to tow the gator back to shore, and it took two hours to reel the massive beast in.
“It’s my husband’s passion. Every alligator hunting season, it’s all go for him,” said Tres’ wife, Janette Ammerman. “We’ve got three over-13-foot mounts in the house, but I think this is a once in a lifetime thing — it’s very unlikely to see something this big again.” As for what they’re going to do with the gator, it’s undecided. “We haven’t decided what we’re going to do with him yet. We’ll probably sell him, but my husband is going to keep his options open.”
