Just imagine a combination of Ted Kennedy and Britney Spears. Wait, I’m sorry. That’s cruel of me. Imagine of one of the lesser-known Kardashians ran for California state assembly and ran campaign ads that touted her bikini-clad assets and not her political positions, beliefs, or qualifications. Well, that’s the case in Poland, where recording artist and tabloid celebrity Sara May, born Katarzyna Szczolek, is plastering Warsaw with posters of herself in a bikini to bring attention to her run for office.
Szczolek is running for the Warsaw district council as a representative of her native district, Bemowo. “The deeds count, not the words, so I will not promise anything. I live in Bemowo in Warsaw,” says May, whose campaign poster is emblazoned with the slogan “Beautiful, independent, competent.” You can learn more about Ms. May and her various (political) positions at her official campaign blog.
I have to say, Jimmy McMillan aside, American politics has nothing on foreign politics. We’ve got mustaches; they’ve got bikini girls and clowns.
