Some people call it living large. Flashy cars, big wads of money, lots of pictures of yourself. It’s all well and good if you come by your money legally, but when you’re knee-deep in a massive forgery operation specializing in false citizenship and traveling papers, it’s probably not best to show off. Showing off is what caught up 22-year-old professional forger Plattini Stalone de la Torre Cordoso. When he was pulled over by the cops, he had two sets of ID on him. A trip back to his house in Shadwell, East London, unveiled a document forging machine and lots of pictures of himself rolling around on big piles of money. Brazilian-born one-man forgery ring Plattini Cordoso was busted by the police thanks to pictures of himself rolling around in cash.
“Cordoso was at the forefront of an operation forging identity documents. He was caught red handed by BTP officers with false cards in his pocket and had a flat full of equipment used for this crime. The pictures we found of Cordoso show his complete disregard for the law. Forging documents plays a part in the much larger picture of criminality across the country and Cordosos sentence reflects this,” says Detective Constable Jerry Meek of the BTP’s Organized and Financial Crime Unit.
So, to all you crooks out there, try to keep it on the down low. Big piles of cash are awesome, but they’re also kind of incriminating. Maybe roll around in a big pile of singles, rather than big denominations.
