The father of rock and roll isn’t Elvis or the Beatles or anybody else. The father of rock and roll is Chuck Berry, bar none. Even at age 84, Chuck Berry is still getting onstage with his guitar and still rocking out. Unfortunately, when you rock at 84, travel and performing can take a lot out of you. Chuck Berry collapsed onstage at a performance in Chicago this weekend, though sources say he’s fine.
Chuck Berry performed on New Year’s Eve at BB King’s Blues Club and Grill in New York City in not one, but TWO shows. Then, the very next day, he flies halfway across the country to Chicago to play a show dubbed the Winter Dance on New Year’s Day at the Congress Theater. Three shows in two days might not be impressive for a youngster, but for a guy who is well into his 80’s? It’s phenomenal! No wonder he was exhausted!
