One of the most guarded secrets in the industrial world is the formula that makes Coca-Cola. The only known official copy of the recipe is in Coke’s vaults in Atlanta, Georgia. However, thanks tosome detective work, Coke’s secret is out. Merchandise 7X, the secret syrup that gives Coca-Cola its flavor, has been discovered and published online by This American Life!
The recipe was discovered in an article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published on February 8, 1979. In the picture accompanying the article, someone is holding up a book with a recipe that is believed to be the exact recipe created by John Pemberton, inventor of Coca-Cola. This American Life discovered the recipe and put it up online.
Next up? The 11 herbs and spices made famous by Colonel Sanders (or possibly the magic combination of Four Loko). If they can crack the formula for Coke, there’s no telling what secret ingredients can be uncovered with a little detective work!
