Four years ago, taxi driver Mir Yi was mugged and stabbed by knife-wielding bandits. Since his attack, Yi has suffered headaches and the occasional bleeding episode from his ears and mouth, but nothing major. Or apparently, nothing major enough to send him to the hospital. However, after years of headaches, Yi went to the local hospital to get checked out. An x-ray discovered that Mir Yi had a knife stuck in his skull for four years.
“He came to us with a long history of severe head pain and unexplained bleeding from his ears and mouth. As soon as we scanned him it was obvious what was wrong,” said a spokesman for the Yuxi People’s Hospital, which discovered the knife. “What is astonishing is that is was missed four years ago and that he has survived all this time with it in his head. We’ve seen needles and small objects buried in a skull but never something this size.”
The blade was lodged between his skull and ear, so it was probably easy to miss, but still. How do you not discover a knife lodged in your head until you get x-rayed?! Did he not go to the doctor after getting stabbed the first time or something? Maybe those communist countries are just tougher; after all, that Russian girl who got stabbed in the back didn’t feel it, so maybe it’s something in the water over there.
