Wisconsin’s Republican governor, Scott Walker, has been pranked. Not by a radio shock jock or some ne’er-do-well from the world, but from his political opposition. The editor of a liberal website, Ian Murphy of the Buffalo Beast, impersonated billionaire Tea Party supporter David Koch and arranged a 20-minute phone conversation with the embattled Walker. Here’s the link to the Buffalo Beast’s transcript of Ian Murphy’s prank call with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
In the epic prank call, Walker discusses the methods Wisconsin’s Republican state legislators are doing to get the Democrats to show up and be present for the crucial vote. Republicans believe they have the votes to force the controversial measures to pass, but Democrats have to be there in order for them to pass the measures, which are reviled by Democrats and public sector employees. In a press conference, Walker admitted to being pranked, but will not back down from his agenda.
“I’m not going to let one prank phone call be a distraction from the job we have to do,” said Walker. “The things I said are the things I’ve said publicly all the time.”
