Buttheads rejoice!
The annual San Diego Comic-Con has grown by leaps and bounds, providing debuts and teases about upcoming comic book series and plot twists, events, movies and television shows. All those uber fans attending a panel that featured Mike Judge were treated to some big news. Hopefully there were enough seats at the panel so nerd stabbings could be averted.
The creative cartoonist announced he is resurrecting his dirty-minded, Metallica-loving teenagers Beavis and Butthead. The animated duo will return to MTV in October and will start right back up mocking the things they see on their television and annoying just about everyone they encounter. MTV is sharing a nearly five-minute preview clip that shows the lewd and crude teens falling right back into the routines that helped them build the network’s brand in the late 1980s and early 90s. There are cornholio references and they slam the Jersey Shore cast including prime target Snooki. It’s not clear if the episodes they mock are of the Jersey folks invading Italy and the UK. Apparently, one of the few changes will involve them mocking newer things like YouTube videos, UFC fighting and maybe even Twitter and MTV’s first Twitter DJ.
The renewed series will be nostalgic fun for those of us who were around for the original B&B heyday and will likely create a whole new set of catch-phrases for the second wave of fans.
