This will no longer be our last memory of the NFL.
Is it time to start rejoicing? Well, according to the magic 8-ball that is Jay Glazer and FOX Sports, all signs point to yes. The NFL and the NFLPA appear to have agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement, with players scheduled to vote it into place today, then head to training camps to re-certify as a union on Tuesday. That means, cue the fanfare, that professional football is back in the United States of America and the lockout is actually over! Huzzah!
According to the new plan, training camps can begin as soon as Thursday, with 10 teams starting then, 10 more on Friday, and the final 12 kicking things off over the weekend. Once the players resume being part of a trade union, the union and the NFL can finish the final moments of negotiation and lock down terms for drug testing, workers’ comp, and other things that can only be determined by a union according to federal trade laws.
Amazingly, not only is the NFL coming back (hopefully) today, Brett Favre is already rumored to be coming back as a back-up to Michael Vick in Philadelphia.
