The Nintendo 3DS, waiting for you to give it a good home.
When the Nintendo 3DS launched in March, there’s no doubt that the big N had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, due to hand-held fatigue and a weariness concerning all things 3D, the 3DS hasn’t been the huge success that Nintendo had hoped for. However, there’s still hope, as Nintendo is making the 3Ds cheaper. Nintendo is cutting the price of the 3DS from $249 to $169, and early adopters are getting 20 free virtual console games for their troubles. Say what you want to about the merits of the 3DS, but Nintendo is the only company to give people free games for buying a system early and paying a premium for it.
If the idea of 20 free 3DS games sounds good to you, and you’re willing to pay the $80 dollar difference to get your hands on them, then worry not. Nintendo isn’t changing the price of the 3DS until August 12, and if you buy a 3DS and log into the eShop before August 12, you get 10 free NES virtual console games and 10 free Game Boy Advance virtual console games. If you can find the game on sale between now and then, it might be worth your while to pick it up at a slightly cheaper price in exchange for the games. Did I mention that the games would be exclusive titles sold ONLY to early 3DS purchasers?
Otherwise, you can wait until August 12, buy the Nintendo 3DS at the new $169 price point, and use the $80 difference to buy something else new and awesome, like the Wii U.
