Are you one of the many people eagerly awaiting the new Nintendo DS this holiday season?  Well, you’re going to have to keep waiting.  The long-awaited new portable video game system from Nintendo won’t be hitting American shores until March 2012, missing the holiday season entirely.  Even in Japan, the DS won’t be out until February 2012.  Nintendo’s stock price has taken a beating over the news of the missed deadline, but the Nintendo 3DS will be worth the wait.

For one, the new Nintendo DS will feature 3D screens.  If that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, it also comes with a charging stand, a 2GB memory card, portable WiFi browsing, backlit buttons, and the long-awaited DSiWare, which is an app store/WiiWare-type download store for the DS.  Somehow, Nintendo has turned a Hall-of-Fame toy into something even more spectacular than it was before.  Just throw in a new Pokemon game and the 3DS will be a huge hit.
