People are just crazy these days. I mean, you can get attacked for no reason at all, as evidenced by the KFC beatings. Still, you’d think that someone with a few hit records under his belt would be pretty safe from a butt-kicking, but apparently not. Sometime last night, a group of people attacked singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw in New York City, beating him so badly he had to go to the hospital.
The weirdest part of this attack is just how random it seems. Some thugs (who didn’t leave a gang business card) beat up a dude, and it just so happens to be a well-known singer? Someone randomly gets jumped, and it’s Gavin DeGraw, who recorded “I Don’t Want To Be” and “Chariot” and is known internationally as the theme to One Tree Hill? Do you think the thugs knew they were beating up a guy scheduled to open for a double-bill of Train and Maroon 5 and, perhaps, that’s why he got attacked? A case of mistaken identity by some thugs who thought they were beating up Jason Mraz?
Nobody really knows the details, and DeGraw, who is currently at Bellevue Hospital recovering from his assault, has yet to make a statement.
