The Amish are mostly known for their peaceful ways and shunning modern conveniences based on their religious beliefs.
But there is apparently a dark side. An Amish family has been terrorizing other families who practice their faith in Ohio. It all started over an apparent sex scandal, but it wasn’t the one involving Amish sexting.
Three men were arrested for attacking men and shearing them of the long beards they grow. The women they assaulted had their long hair cut short. In the Amish religion, to have your hair or beard cut short is considered degrading. According to a sheriff in the community, one man claimed he would rather be dead than have his beard cut off. I wonder if they used the Iranian guide to hair cuts to plan the attacks.
To me maybe the oddest part of this religious hair assault is that two of the three men arrested were named Mullet. Yep, that fantastic “business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back” hairstyle, the mullet, has a role in this weird crime drama.
The attacks occurred in three different counties and set off a frenzy of firearms purchases in the area as families planned to protect themselves. Hopefully, the arrests will help calm the community.
