Are you eagerly awaiting the next generation of video games? Well, you won’t have to wait too long. Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Nintendo Wii U, will be available for gamers to try out at E3 in Los Angeles in June, and the Wii U will be launching after March 2012 to coincide with the new fiscal year. Nintendo is getting a jump-start on the competition, and they look to be changing the game, much like they did with the wildly-successful Wii.
“Based on the bitter experiences we have had with the Nintendo 3DS, we are making every effort to prepare so that the Wii U will not stumble during its launch,” said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
The Nintendo Wii U has a whole horde of interesting new features. The Wii U will be similar to the Wii’s form factor, but it has an interesting new wrinkle in its controller system. Rather than a little stick, it will have a tablet-style gamepad that is linked wirelessly to the Wii U. It will feature joysticks and control buttons like a traditional video game controller, but with a twist. The Wii U’s tablet controller will be able to play games either shown on the TV (in high definition) or independently on its own smaller screen.
Finally, you may be able to play video games and watch TV at the same time!
