A Christopher Walken impersonator’s joking quotes were attributed to the iconic actor who frequently needs more cowbell, according to Saturday Night Live.
Now that the investigation into the death of actress Natalie Wood has been re-opened after decades, the participants in her last evening alive are being sought for interviews, not only by the police, but by the media. Only three other people were on the yacht where Wood spent her last night alive. They were the captain of the boat Dennis Davern, her husband Robert Wagner and friend Christopher Walken.
An Associated Press reporter thought he was using quotes about the night of Wood’s death from one of the three living witnesses to that evening. Instead, the reporter was quoting a Walken impersonator who is a regular contributor to a sports radio show in Washington, D.C. This was on a par with Michele Bachmann confusing heroic actor John Wayne and serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
The inaccurate quotes were removed about an hour after the reporter’s story was posted online. Although the reporter’s credibility took a hit, at least no one died due to a mistaken identity this time.
