Since 1994, the nation of North Korea has suffered under the reign of tyrannical dictator Kim Jong-Il, the son of the founder of North Korea, Kim Il Song, and the widely reviled yet widely mocked figure at the head of one of the most insular communist nations on the map. All dictatorships enforce quiet with the outside world, but North Korea is essentially a ghost nation. No one really knows what goes on within that country’s borders, but some news still gets out. The latest news out of the People’s Republic of North Korea? Kim Jong Il, the self-styled supreme leader of North Korea, is dead at age 69.
Since the death of Song in 1994 from a heart attack, Kim Jong-Il has pretty much turned North Korea into one of the poorest countries on earth thanks to a restricted economy, little outside trading, and a global stand-off with the rest of the world over North Korea’s desire to become a nuclear power while millions of its people starve to death. All the while, there’s KJI, obsessing over Michael Jordan while wearing giant granny glasses, bouffanting his hair, and wearing elevator shoes in an attempt to look adult-sized while trying to pay off North Korea’s debts with ginseng.
Kim Jong-Il’s son, Kim Jong-un, is believed to be the next in line to rule the country, but your guess is as good as mine as to whether or not this will actually happen.
