NewsCorp’s longtime leader, Rupert Murdoch, has long been slow to embrace the Internet. In fact, at one point, he described the online world as a den of “porn, thievery, and hackers.” Still, NewsCorp launched the first iPad newspaper, The Daily, NewsCorp tried to turn a profit with MySpace and failed, and Rupert Murdoch has been putting his personal iPad to good use by becoming a member of Twitter. Still, he’s not quite gotten the hang of it yet; Rupert Murdoch just joined Twitter and he has already had to delete a tweet due to a tasteless joke.
Rupert Murdoch cracked a joke about Britons vacationing quite a bit for a country full of broke people; nearly instantly, a Twitter account reportedly belonging to Rupert’s wife Wendi Deng popped up with comments, telling Murdoch to take down his post and further instructing him on online etiquette. Since the post disappeared, that may be all the verification needed to prove that it really belongs to Mrs. Murdoch!
Feel free to follow Rupert Murdoch here; as always, you can follow PopFi on Twitter, too!
