...and TWINS!

Every year, there’s a story about twins that split the New Year.  It happened in 2010-11, and it happened this year in a big way.  Not one, but two sets of children were born in different years this year.  Of course, this is a matter of hours, not a matter of weeks, but it’s still pretty fun to see two twin babies, one with a 2011 birthday and the other with a 2012 birthday.  Makes you wonder if the parents will celebrate them both on different days, or just combine the two into a New Year’s Eve party, with a birthday cake being cut at the stroke of midnight.

In Buffalo, New York, new parents Brighid and Thomas Rosputni welcomed twin sons Rory and Ronan.  One was born at 11:37 PM on Saturday night, and the other came at 12:10 AM on Sunday morning, putting the two boys on either side of the yearly divide.  Meanwhile, across the country in Minneapolis, Minnesota, another set of twins was defying the logic of the calendar by splitting the year.  Beckett Humenny was born at 6:40 PM on Saturday during 2011 and his sister Fraeya was born at 12:26 AM on Sunday in 2012.
