Terrell Owens in better, NFL days.
How far the mighty have fallen. At one time, Terrell Owens was one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League. He’s a six-time All Pro, after all, and he commanded millions of dollars and legions of fans, haters, admirers, and detracters depending on whether or not he played for your team. Well, it increasingly looks like TO’s run in the NFL is coming to an end, but his professional football career isn’t: Terrell Owens just signed a contract to play for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. TO is heading back to Texas–Allen, Texas–to play football inside.
“Uh-oh, it’s official. I’m headed back to Texas,” said the flamboyant wide-receiver on a video post on Twitter. “That’s right, IFL, here I come. Allen, Texas, here I come. I’m going to be me. … Allen, Texas, I’ll see you in the end zone.”
Owens began his career in San Francisco, and over the next 15 seasons, he picked up some incredible statistics. He scored 153 touchdowns, grabbed 1,078 catches, and earned an impressive 15,934 yards. He’s second all-time in receiving yards and touchdowns behind Jerry Rice, and he’s sixth all time in receptions. He missed all of last season following a knee injury; his most previous NFL team was the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played alongside Chad Ochocinco.
