Seal and Heidi Klum predate catchy celebrity nicknames, but I call them Seaklu.

When it comes to marriage, you have to work to make it.  Russell Brand and Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and most of Hollywood won’t put in the hard work necessary to make a merger of two celebrities work, but it always seemed like Seal (the singer, not the animal) and Heidi Klum were going to make it for the long haul.  As it turns out, they won’t.  Seal and Heidi Klum have announced their separation and intention to divorce; the couple have been together since 2005.

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate,” said a joint statement issued by the couple.  “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart.  This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.  We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support.  And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

Seal’s newest album, Soul 2, comes out on Tuesday.  Meanwhile, Heidi Klum still has her busy life as a Project Runway host and a model to distract her from her broken nuptials.  Together, the couple have three children (not including one from Klum’s previous relationship).
