Saturday afternoon was just not a good day for United States Secretary of Commerce John Bryson. Bryson was in the Los Angeles area when he was involved in not one, but two accidents within minutes. The wrecks took place on San Gabriel Boulevard in Los Angeles county; the first wreck was in San Gabriel proper and the second was in nearby Rosemead. Now, police are investigating Secretary of Commerce John Bryson on felony hit-and-run charges.
During the first wreck, Bryson hit a SUV stopped at a railroad crossing to wait for a train, then hit the car a second time as he pulled away. The three men in the SUV followed Bryson as he left the scene, calling police in the process. During the second wreck, Bryson hit a car occupied by a man and woman. The scene of the second accident is where police found Bryson, passed out in his Lexus. He was taken to the hospital after being treated at the scene; two men from the first wreck were examined by paramedics, and the couple at the second scene complained of pain but denied treatment.
The wrecks are being examined by the LA County Sheriff’s Department and the San Gabriel Police. Here’s my question; if he wasn’t the US Secretary of Commerce, would he be in jail now for DUI? Police say there is no immediate indication that drugs or alcohol played a part in the wrecks, but when you hit two cars three times within minutes and the cops find you passed out in your car, well… I don’t care if it’s 5 PM on Saturday or not, you’re probably getting a DUI even if you’re just high on coffee.
