Looks like Kate Middleton lied to the world. When the Duchess of Cambridge nearly let slip that she was going to have a daughter, the world jumped on it as news of the future Queen of England and monarch of Great Britain. As it turns out, Prince William and Princess Catherine really didn’t know the sex of the Royal Baby, because when the child finally arrived today at 4:24 local time, it wasn’t a princess, it was a little prince. Kate Middleton gave birth to an 8 pound 6 ounce baby boy today; the baby is now third in line for the British Crown.
“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy,” said a statement from Prince Charles, AKA Grandpa. “Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
All the other information about the baby, from its length to its general disposition and any hair it may or may not have is still waiting to be revealed. As of right now, the Royal Parents are spending the night together in the hospital and I presume we’ll get a first photo and some other information once the new parents have recovered from the process of giving birth.
