The invitation simply says, “Wish we could say more,” as if that’s enough of an apology. It’s not, but when it comes to Apple and new products, the name of the game is cryptic. Also probably white and shiny. But mostly cryptic. Apple sent out a teaser for an event on September 9 at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California, and most people believe that event will be a product launch for not one, but two new devices in the coveted iWhatever range of products.
Those products are pretty firmly established. One of them is the iPhone 6, which will come in larger 4.7 and 5.5 varieties to take on the next big product niche, the phablet (part phone, part tablet, and not meant for pockets). The second product, which is the “more” in the teaser, is rumored to be the wearable Apple iWatch. The iWatch, which was rumored to be coming out in October, may be getting here a little earlier than expected.
I guess Apple is finally following Samsung and HTC’s motto for phones: bigger is better. But combine that with a wearable smartwatch, and it seems like a pretty good “best of both worlds” situation.
