Krispy Kreme’s salute to the Ghostbusters.

It’s amazing to think that Ghostbusters has been around for 30 years as of this year.  Ghostbusters seems both fresh and timeless, depending on how you look at it.  It’s also an iconic comedy classic, full of classic characters and classic lines, equal parts 80’s wit and 1950’s-style charm.  Given the cottage industry of Ghostbusters tours and such, it’s only natural that for the film’s 30th anniversary would prompt some special events from companies looking to celebrate.  And speaking of celebrations… Krispy Kreme will be launching two limited-time Ghostbusters-themed doughnuts!

The two doughnuts have a lot in common, mostly marshmallow-flavored Kreme filling and white icing on the outside, along with sugar decorations, but the two outer layers are totally different.  One features the distinctive Ghostbusters logo and green slime splat, and the other is just the smiling face of everyone’s favorite ooey-gooey villain, the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man!  It’s a pretty cool selection of treats, to be sure, even if it sounds very, very sweet.

The only drawback to the Ghostbusters doughnuts, aside from the calories, is their limited availability.  They’ll only be for sale between September 29 and October 31, so if you’re interested, don’t linger too long.  Unlike the ghosts, these will only be around for a limited time.
