Target’s gotten so popular that they have difficult staying online. Target’s website tends to crash under high loads, if only because Target is offering such cool things at such good prices. Even when Target is prepared to handle a big crowd, they’re not really prepared to handle the kind of crowd they draw. Target’s website has been crashing all day due to incredible Cyber Monday demand.
“We are seeing an absolutely extraordinary response to our Cyber Monday offer,” said Target spokesperson Katie Boylan said. “The traffic, the demand, the orders are just absolutely through the roof.”
Target is offering 15% off everything in the store, plus free shipping, among other deals. It’s one of two really busy days for Target; Thanksgiving was the company’s biggest day ever, and this is more than twice that volume. Target is so overwhelmed they’ve had to initiate an online waiting system, putting customers in a virtual line to wait to get into the website. Even with that, customers are still struggling to get in, and some aren’t even getting into the line.
