We live in an unsafe world. It seems like every day, there’s some sort of new terror to be worried about. Be the fears real or invented, fears they remain, but it’s up to companies like Google to encourage vigilance, make sure users pay attention rather than just follow blindly, and make sure everyone works together to have a safer online experience. That’s the point of Safer Internet Day, a day that Google has set aside to ask all Google users to make sure they’re taking proper online precautions. With every stick comes a carrot: Google is offering 2GB of free Google Drive storage for people willing to take an online safety check.
It’s all part of Google’s Safer Internet Day event, which is apparently a real thing. You take a fairly short two-minute safety check, and Google rewards you with some extra Google Drive storage, which if you use Google Drive, you might end up needing. Even if you never use it, it’s free, and it’s also helpful to make sure all your security information is still current, like safety questions and phone numbers and backup email addresses and the like.
