If you watched Sunday night’s NFL slugfest between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, you witnessed a pretty good football game. It was tough; incredibly tough, even. When the quarterback comes out looking like he’s gone 12 rounds with young George Foreman, then you know it was a brutal game. Witness Ben Roethlisberger’s horribly broken nose from last night’s game. The nose is so badly broken that Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is going to need surgery to repair it.
To Roethlisberger’s credit, he’s a football player (despite being just a quarterback; even the signal callers in the NFL are tough). Entering the game with a sprained sprained foot, Big Ben was able to use the broken nose to his advantage following an impromptu facial reconstruction courtesy of Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs and nose tackle (haha) Haloti Ngata.
“It hurt a lot,” Roethlisberger said of his sore foot, “but the broken nose took some of the pain away.”
I’d imagine the broken nose took away both the pain from his foot and his sense of smell. Bad for restaurants and eating, good for pungent locker rooms.
