If you’re looking to get as far away from civilized city slickers as you possibly can, try a Moroccan castle that sits on the highest peak in North Africa. It’s called the Kasbah du Toubkal and it’s so far removed that visitors will need to take a round-trip donkey ride for transit.
Maybe that’s too far, so how about something a little more stateside. Castle on the Hudson is merely half an hour outside New York City and gives you all the luxury that a young, faux-mideival fort can provide. Like the article says, not all of us can afford trips out of the country, so this is a good alternative.
Prices vary, locale changes, but the experience still makes you long for royalty. Just make sure it doesn’t have a haunted past. And of course there’s always sexy hotel rooms for the, ugh… exotic travelers.
