One of the things I love about McDonalds is that, everywhere you go, it’s pretty much the same. When I was in Paris, and I got Le Big Mac, I knew what to expect. But that’s not to say that the menu isn’t localized for the audience. Take, for example, McDonalds Japan. They take the classic idea of the American-style hamburger and are filtering it through the weird lens of their culture to create the Big American Burger, four of which will be launching in 2010.
The four burgers getting launched are the Texas Burger, Burger New York, California Burger, and Hawaiian Burger. Leave it to the Japanese to make a Hawaiian burger with no Spam or pineapple on it! Still, while the Japanese might be picking a nontraditional format for their American burgers, at least they all have bacon on them. We can all agree that bacon is the best.
If I had to pick a winner? It’d be the Texas Burger. I mean, barbeque sauce and fried onion rings on a hamburger is win, any way you slice it. Just drop the middle bun and you’d have a tasty burger right there.
